Day 7 Mausoleum of Ismail Samani

  The Samanid Mausoleum is a mausoleum located in the northwestern part of Bukhara, Uzbekistan, just outside its historic center. It was built in the 10th century CE as the resting place of the powerful and influential Islamic Samanid dynasty that ruled the Samanid Empire from approximately 900 to 1000.[1][2] It contained three burials, one of whom is known to have been that of Nasr II.  The mausoleum is considered one of the iconic examples of early Islamic architecture[3] and is known as the oldest funerary building of Central Asian architecture.[4] The Samanids established their de facto independence from the Abbasid Caliphate in Baghdad and ruled over parts of modern Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan. today we traveled one of the historical part of Bukhara, Sitorai Mokhi Xosa . Beginning of the practice we discussed the history of this place and our today's presentors told us some legends and information. Sitorai-Mohi Hosa Palace(translated from Persian as the star and the moon of Khan) was built in XIX - XX centuries by father of the last Emir Ahadhan.   The new complex of garden pavilions was built to the east of the residence Ahadhan. It is a large garden area of 6.7 hectares with fruit orchards. There are two sculptures of marble lions at the entrance to the palace. Colorful mosaic patterns adorn the main entrance to the palace, which is uncharacteristic of the local architecture. Blue and green colors are dominated in the decoration of the interior.   Palace Sitora-Mohi-Hosa consists of three main parts: the entrance, outside courtyard - for men and inside courtyard - for women. Day 5 Blacksmiths' museum -workshop

  One of the main activities of the Bukhara museum-preserve is to revive and support traditional Bukharan handicraft. In 1992, the blacksmiths' museum-workshop, the only one of its type in Uzbekistan, was set up in the 16th - century Kulyuta karavansarai. The museum-workshop is a living museum. Not only could one learn there the history of the ancient blacksmith's craft, but also participate in making blacksmith products. Usto Shokir Kamolov, who comes of a family of blacksmiths, is the senior researcher of the museum.  The museum-workshop has swords, knives, arrow-heads, and craftsmen's instruments. The exhibits of major interest are "Risola," blacksmiths' rules (19th c.), chain- mail (17th c.), a warrior's outfit (17th c.), and bellows (17th c.).  Bukhara was a center of development of handicraft production for many centuries.  ARK CITADEL The Ark is a large earthen fortification located in the northwestern part of contemporary Bukhara. In layout, it resembles a modified rectangle, a little elongated from the west to the east. The perimeter of the external walls is 789.6 m (2,591 ft), the area enclosed being 3.96 ha (9.8 acres). The ceremonial entrance into the citadel is architecturally framed by two 18th-century towers. The upper parts of the towers are connected by a gallery, rooms, and terraces. A gradually rising ramp leads through a winch-raised portal and a covered long corridor to the mosque of Dzhuma. The covered corridor offers access to storerooms and prison cells.   During the practice we visited art museum 😊 The fine arts museum has the center for studying Arabic Written oriental manuscripts . The center was founded in 1990 to study and systematize the written legacy of Central Asia   The museum's reserves posses 3.454 rare manuscripts and documents the 16th-20th written in Arabic Persian - Tajik and Chaghatay . The literary texts include various documents of judical legal financial and household character covering five -century history of Central Asia  The history of the building The building was constructed in 1912 by the local masters Hoji Abdurahim Hayatov and Abduĝafor Karaulbegi under the guidance of the Russian engineers Margulis and Sakovich . The first floor of the building housed Savva Mozorov's shop . On the second floor there was the branch of the Azov -Donskiy Bank. From 1920 up to 1982 this building had placed the department of the State Bank(Gosbank) and other organizations

Second day of our practice was so seductive.nozima and i presented the Po-i kalon mosque complex . Beginning of the presentation we discussed about minaret kalyan . So i want to share my impression. Let's goooooo✈️ The minaret designed by Bako was built on an earlier existing structure called Kalyan by the Qarakhanid ruler Mohammad Arslan Khan in 1127 to sommon Muslims to prayer five times a day   Kalyan Minaret -the highest tower in old Bukhara  Kalyan minaret is the highest tower of Bukhara with the height of 46.5 meters .  What was the tower used for ? 1. Religious : traditionally every Friday a muzzin convoked all Muslims believers to pray at the Kalyan Mosque which located nearby  2. Observational: after a while people realized that the tower was an excellent viewing platform from which it was very convenient to observe the situation in the city and notice an enemy in time  3.
